Jewellery

⁜ Beadwork pieces are hand-stitched using high-quality Miyuki Delica glass seed beads. Chokers are accented with 100% recycled leather fasteners and suede lace. All chains are gold filled, with a durable nature and long lifespan, and are assembled by hand.

Inspired by my bloodline of Ukrainian decent, I enjoy the challenge of merging traditional folk-style Eastern European beadwork and prints, with modern style concepts. ⁜

WEAVING

⁜ Each woven wall hanging is an independent design and can take anywhere from 5 to 15+ hours of weaving time. Created with locally sourced artisan wools, hemp, cottons, and up-cycled materials, the process is a labour of love and each one is unique. ⁜

Much of my creative inspiration for weaving comes from the challenge of harmonizing visual contrasts. Inspired by aspects of nature, I tend to focus my work on exploring varieties of visually cooperative divergence. Namely, how physical/aesthetic contrasts can entice our emotions, and how such combined visuals and ideas can work to successfully compliment eachother.

While I draft a design for weaving, my mind veers towards the endlessly inspiring natural space that surrounds us. Almost unconsciously, my thoughts drift towards images of environments such as our vast Canadian prairies, or our deep, northern forests and their many fascinating inhabitants within. I often default to thoughts of fresh mountain rivers, with an endless history of rocks and pebbles, connected to eternal ocean tides. Or I may find myself dreaming of mystic green lakes, surrounded by yelps and cries of distant, orchestral carnivores on moon-lit, misty nights. ⁜
